Brief About Dr. Aderonke Vivian Agbaje
Biography
Dr. Aderonke Vivian Agbaje is the Director of Programs – Special Projects and Chief of Party of the USAID TB-LON 3 Project at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). She directly supervises the USAID TB Local Organizations Network (LON 3) project in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Osun States, providing oversight for effective planning and implementation of the project aimed at detecting and treating tuberculosis cases, as well as scaling up COVID-19 vaccinations in these States and strengthening sustainable systems for health.
She also provides leadership and direction to other special projects such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria TB-HIV Reach, Integration and Impact Project (GC7 N-THRIP) and the World Bank Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) project.
Before assuming this role, Dr. Agbaje served as the Deputy Director, Global Fund grants. She managed all Global Fund grants that the Institute implements including the GF TB Public Private Mix (PPM) project, a collaboration with the private sector to find and treat tuberculosis cases. She has mentored staff to develop strategies, carry out activities, document results and handle finance and logistics for tuberculosis (TB) programs in Nigeria.
She has also represented the Institute at national and international committees and technical working groups to review policies and guidelines that affect TB, HIV, Malaria, and Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) activities in the country.
Within the Institute, she has held positions as Coordinator and Manager of Global Fund Programs, and Program Officer Strategic Information. Her work experience in the private sector includes working as; Regional Manager in charge of Kano, Borno, Plateau, and Abuja at Clear Line International Limited, a health maintenance organization, and Senior Medical Officer in Lagoon Hospitals Ikeja.
Dr. Agbaje graduated from the University of Ibadan with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and has over twenty years of experience in the medical field. She also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Nigerian Institute of Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University Of Manchester, United Kingdom. She has attended several training courses, conferences and workshops.
Dr. Agbaje loves spending time with people, reading, and traveling and is married with children.
