Brief About Dr. Ebenezer Ajayi
Biography
As the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) Ogun State Manager, Dr. Ebenezer Ajayi facilitates collaboration with the State Tuberculosis Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Program to rapidly scale-up tuberculosis services and strengthen the health system for tuberculosis control.
He manages the activities of the USAID Tuberculosis Local Organizations Network (USAID TB LON 3) project in the state. He directs the implementation of key interventions such as public-private mix engagement, finding tuberculosis cases in the facility and community, laboratory optimization as well as Domestic Resource Mobilization. Dr. Ajayi also liaises with sub-awardees of the USAID TB-LON 3 project to create awareness and demand for tuberculosis services. For the delivery of evidence-based services, he supervises timely data collection, collation, and reporting.
He leads a team of IHVN staff in the state to plan, review, and track the progress of program implementation, utilization, and reporting.
Dr. Ajayi has more than 15 years of experience in clinical practice and in the provision of tuberculosis services in both hospital and non-governmental organizations. He worked as a Family Medicine Registrar and DR-TB Focal Person at Sacred Heart Hospital, Abeokuta, and as a Medical Advisor in Damien Foundation Nigeria before joining IHVN as Senior Program Officer in 2021.
He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Obafemi Awolowo University College of Medicine in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and proceeded to gain Membership award with the West African College of Physicians. He is currently studying for a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria.
He has many certifications in areas such as Digital Skills, as well as in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Economic Evaluation in Global Health from the University of Washington, USA.
His research interests are in both drug-resistant and drug-susceptible tuberculosis, community tuberculosis services and artificial intelligence digital project programming.
Dr. Ajayi’s hobbies are networking, travelling, and he is married with children.
